I am a start-up executive who has a lot of experience in building technology companies. In the 1990s, I was a marketing executive in the enterprise software space, and was instrumental in growing start-ups like Sybase and Business Objects into successful, publicly traded entities. In the early 2000s, I spent about five years consulting as an "interim VP of Marketing" to early-stage start-up companies. In 2006, I was at JotSpot before they were acquired by Google.
I am attending Defrag because I am very interested in the intersection of social networking and knowledge management. I have spent the last few months focused on what I loosely call the "Facebook for businesses" opportunity. I say, "loosely", because I don't think the opportunity has to do with "social" networking. I think the opportunity is all about "knowledge" networking. It's about people connecting for the purpose of leveraging each other's knowledge, not just communicating with each other. You can read more of my thoughts on my blog.
Related to my interest in "knowledge networking", I am currently consulting to Radar Networks, the providers of Twine.
